I love the place where I live, the small historic seacoast city of Newburyport, Massachusetts. I’ve lived here now for almost 30 years. When I decided to have three free websites at Mary Baker Design, I decided that two of them would have historic photographs of Newburyport, MA.
The first website design “Clam Shack,” has probably the most beloved Newburyport historic photograph of the clam shack workers, shucking clams in front of the clam shacks that once lined the mouth of the Merrimac River, where Newburyport, MA is located. The photograph of the “Clam Shack Workers” is in this entry.
The second free website design at Mary Baker Design, “Old Photographs” contains three old photographs of Newburyport, MA, one of a clipper ship, a view of downtown Newburyport, MA, and a detail of a clam shack worker. The detail of the clam shack worker is at the top of this entry.
The historic photographs for the free websites “Old Photographs” and “Clam Shack” are in the public domain. They are courtesy of the Newburyport Archival Center at the Newburyport Public Library, in Newburyport, MA.
I’ve written extensively about Newburyport, MA on the Newburyport Blog, and I’ve painted realistic oil paintings of landscapes and flowers of Newburyport, MA for over 20 years. I am a professional artist, and the realistic oil paintings can be seen on the website Mary Baker Art.
